Agency Description
Established by Jack Kelsch, along with family members, in 1980, Kelsch Associates, Inc. NJ is a private social service agency that focuses on providing excellent person-centered, life-skill services.  Kelsch Associates, Inc. NJ provides both community residences for developmentally disabled adults, as well as day program services for developmentally disabled adults.

Agency Location
Our community residences for the developmentally disabled and day program sites are located throughout the Southern Region in Camden, Burlington and Gloucester counties.

Agency Mission

Kelsch Associates, Inc. NJ is dedicated to helping our clients achieve the highest level of independence through goal setting and skill building.  Through the use of staff support, each individual receives the services they need to establish a life that is rewarding, successful, healthy and least restrictive both in their home as well as in their community.

Agency Philosophy

  • Individuals have a right to participate in decisions affecting their welfare.

  • The basic processes for promoting individual's growth involves:
    1. Doing for.
    2. Doing with.
    3. Having the resident do for himself/herself.
        AVOID DEPENDENCY

  • When there’s a difficulty with an individual:
    1. Look at the program.
    2. Look at staff involvement and participation.
    3. Look at the individual's involvement.
       AVOID SCAPEGOATING

  • People have a tendency of meeting your expectations.
       AVOID LABELING

  • Every person is individual and unique and should be approached in an individual and unique manner.

  • Be what you say you are; do what you say you’ll do.

  • Maintain a non-judgmental attitude.  Be sensitive to value differences.

  • Explain your feelings in terms of event, effect, and emotion.  Avoid put-down phrases starting with “You…”

  • Avoid over-use of the words ALWAYS, SHOULD, and NEVER.

  • People change, people grow.  There is no “problem individual” – only a lack of adequate solutions.
